Daily Bites – 1/6/14

by spiceaholic on January 6, 2014

Brrrrr, it’s cold! I know I shouldn’t complain since it’s MUCH worse in other places, but I’m still a wee bit chilly.

I’m all snuggled in bed watching Sherlock now, so I’m going to keep this quick.

Started off the day with what I’m calling a rainbow smoothie — fresh kale and/or baby spinach, berries, and a clementine blended with water and some Crystal Light for flavor. Mr. Spice admitted to liking these, so I’ll keep making them, it’s a good way to get in some fruits and veggies.

Later on at work I had some peanut butter cup oatmeal — just a packet of instant oatmeal made with some fat-free hot cocoa and some peanut butter.  It looks a little soupy here, but it had thickened up after I’d come back from checking in with my boss.

For some reason, oatmeal does not keep me full long even if I have protein with it, so I was hungry again after a couple hours.  I had to go run a work errand at lunch, so I had some soup to tide me over until I could eat.

Lunch was some tuna mixed with Dijon mustard and some spices on light dill rye bread.  I love this bread.  And this is the 3rd time in a week I’ve had a tuna sandwich, not sure why I’ve been wanting them so much.  I was supposed to have some carrots with this, but forgot.

Afternoon snack was my version of trail mix — 100 calorie pack of almonds with dried blueberries and dark chocolate chunks.

Dinner was easy thanks to all the leftovers from our party on Saturday.  I steamed some broccoli florets in the microwave and added some Mexican rice and ground turkey.  Oh and a bit of shredded cheese and hot sauce.

We always want a little something after dinner, so I broke into this enormous tin of Belgian chocolate cookies some of our guests brought on Saturday.  I may need to take this to the office in a few days so we don’t devour the whole thing. (I’ve only had 3 cookies so far . . .)

That’s it for now! Stay warm – unless you live in South Florida, in which case you suck. 🙂
