Sunday morning ramblings

Good morning!

After reading in bed for a while (currently devouring a collection of short stories by Agatha Christie), I decided to be useful around the house.  This meant attempting to tame the beast that is our kitchen.  Mr. Spice and I aren’t the tidiest people, so stuff tends to pile up during the week.

I managed to discover a few more things lurking in various cabinets and the pantry that needed to be thrown out and then decided it was time to start in on stuff that is close to going bad.  Like for instance a jar of lemon curd I got at Trader Joe’s a while back after seeing it all over the blogs.

Why oh why did I wait on opening this?  And why oh why did I open it?  This stuff is awesome!  I’ve been on a lemon/citrus kick recently and this is perfect for those cravings.  It’s a little bit of sweet, a little bit of tart, and a hint of creaminess.

Since we don’t have any crumpets or scones lying around to do full justice to the lemon curd, I had to make do with some bread.  I also spotted a jar of Superfruit spread from Trader Joe’s that Mr. Spice had opened and decided to give it a try as well.  And since it’s so cold and rainy today, a cup of tea sounded good as well.  Since I was going with a quasi-British theme today with the Agatha Christie and the lemon curd, I opted for some English Breakfast tea.

Here’s the spread . . . see my two little visitors today?

I don’t have much planned for the rest of the day.  We picked up a few $1 movies from Redbox last night, so I have Julie and Julia to watch, yay!  I’ll probably putter around the kitchen a bit and do some much needed laundry.

Apparently today is National Cocoa Day, so don’t forget to have a cup!
